Scot started his first set of obedience classes at his family’s business Rucker Pet while helping run the stores. He soon added more obedience classes at Happy Dogs Play and Stay in 2014.

In 2017 he decided it was time to start his own business, which is when Rucker Dog Training was founded. In the summer of 2022, Rucker Dog Training moved from Gainesville to Cumming into a larger facility.

Scot has served as a board member for the Forsyth Humane Society since 2015 and is currently the board’s president.

While working with the Humane Society he initiated the HSFC “Friends of Nina Program” helping to find homes for many at-risk dogs as well as serving on the Forsyth County Bite Board.

He partnered with the Forsyth Sheriff’s Department and the Forsyth Animal Shelter in 2019 to create the Pups with Purpose program within the Forsyth County jail which helps not only train and find homes for shelter dogs but also provides inmates with valuable and important life skills. He has a strong desire to add therapy dogs to the community and the Pups Program has recently helped make that dream possible. It has produced the first group of puppies that have all been placed and are currently serving at different agencies and schools within the Forsyth and Hall counties.
